Well, I'm am a 17 soon to be 18 year old male driver who had his first wreck today. A truck decided to come into my lane I braked and swerved to avoid went into the grass over corrected and then went back into the grass in the side of the road. I didn't touch the truck and he kept driving never stopped. A cop on the other side of the road came and did all the usual questions and filed a police report. The car is barely damaged just messed up the muffler pretty bad and a little cosmetic damage. My grandpa and I drove it to a mechanic friend of ours. Now tonight I am worried about the insurance going up. I am on my mother insurance but it is my grandpa's vehicle I was in. So hopefully the car will not be much to fix. I am going I foot the repair bill. Now I'm wondering again though if we do NOT file a claim on insurance will my mom's (and or grandpa's) insurance go up because a police report was filed, also and say it cost too much to fix and we do file it on insurance how much will the insurance go up (rough estimate) and will it be my mom's or my grandpa or both?
